Why can't I claim my desired handle?

FlixNChill utilizes a strict "Iron Dome" handle checker to protect our community from impersonation and fraud. If a handle appears to be available but is rejected, it may trigger one of our safety protocols:

• Reserved Handles: Certain handles are reserved for verified creators, studios, or brands to prevent impersonation.
• Similar Handles: To avoid confusion, our system prevents handles that are visually too similar to existing high-profile creators.

Identifying Your Streaming Providers

During onboarding, we ask you to select which streaming services you use (like Netflix, Disney+, or Prime Video).

We only ask you to select these providers so our engine can accurately recommend movies and shows that you can actually watch in your specific region. It acts as a smart filter, nothing more.

Profile Privacy & Mutuals

You have full control over who can view your Library (your watch history, watchlists, dropped lists, and ratings).

• Public Profile: Your library and stats are visible to everyone on FlixNChill.
• Private Profile: Your library is hidden from the general public. However, it will still remain visible to your Mutuals (people you follow, who also follow you back). This ensures you can still share your cinematic journey with your trusted inner circle!

Taste DNA & Cinematic Zodiacs

Your profile displays a unique Taste DNA Match % when others view it. This engine actively compares their watch history and ratings against yours to generate a compatibility score.

Based on your highest affinity genre, you are also assigned a Cinematic Zodiac:

• Adrina (Action/Thriller): The adrenaline chaser. High-octane and explosive.
• Eeka (Documentary/Mystery): The truth seeker. Grounded in reality and human nature.
• Cordian (Sci-Fi): The futurist. Plugged into technology and the unknown.
• Ora (Horror): The shadow dweller. Attracted to dark atmospheres and dread.
• Elysia (Fantasy/Adventure): The escapist. Enamored with magic and otherworldly realms.
• Vena (Romance/Drama): The emotional core. Driven by deep connections and heartbreak.
• Revo (Comedy): The vibe-setter. Here for the revelry, banter, and a good time.
• Etica (Animation/Family): The visionary. Drawn to boundless creativity and moral fables.
• Dyna (Crime): The anti-hero. Fascinated by gritty underworlds and dynasties.
• Epoch (History/War/Western): The historian. Anchored by the weight of the past and epic eras.
• Sonic (Music): The audiophile. Driven by scores, soundtracks, and rhythm.
• Rick (All Content): The wildcard. Consuming stacks of all content equally.

User Stats & Streaks

Your profile automatically tracks your cinematic journey, displaying your Streak Days, Hours Streamed, Reviews Written, and Editz Count.

Checking Moderation Status

If you upload an Editz video or submit a Post that doesn't immediately appear in the public feed, it may be held for review.

When you view your own profile, you have a special view into your Pending or Rejected content. If a post was rejected, you will see the exact reason provided by our moderation team directly on the post card.

Email Verification & Temporary Emails

To maintain a high-quality community, FlixNChill requires a verified, permanent email address. We actively block disposable or temporary email providers (like mailinator or tempmail).

We use a secure Magic Link system. When you sign up or request a password reset, you will receive an email with a secure link. Simply click the link, and our real-time verification listener will automatically log you in across your devices!

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

For maximum security, FlixNChill supports authenticator-based Two-Factor Authentication (2FA). We highly recommend enabling this to protect your library and account settings.

• Enabling 2FA: Navigate to your Account Settings. You can scan the provided QR code with any standard authenticator app (like Google Authenticator, Authy, or 1Password).
• Manual Entry: If you cannot scan the QR code (e.g., if you are setting it up entirely on your phone), click the "Can't scan the QR code?" dropdown to reveal your manual setup key.
• Verification: After scanning or entering the manual key, input the 6-digit code generated by your app to verify and lock in your 2FA setup.

• Lost your device? If you lose access to your authenticator app, click the "Lost your device? Use a Recovery Code" option on the 2FA login screen.
• Session Bypass: Entering a valid recovery code will bypass the 2FA requirement for your current session, allowing you to log in. That specific code will be permanently "burned" (deleted).
• Regenerating Codes: If you run low on codes, or suspect they have been compromised, you can generate 10 fresh codes at any time from your Account Settings. This will instantly invalidate all previous codes.

Importing & Exporting Your Data

Transitioning from another platform? FlixNChill makes it effortless to bring your years of cinematic history, ratings, and watchlists with you via our Migration Assistant located in your Account Settings.

• Letterboxd: Simply upload your exported .zip file. Read our complete Letterboxd Migration Guide for step-by-step export instructions.
• IMDb: Upload your .csv file for Ratings, Watchlists, or Custom Lists. Read our IMDb Migration Guide for instructions on exporting each list.
• Trakt: Upload your exported .zip file containing movie and TV episode watch histories.
• Custom Data: We support custom .csv or .json imports. You can download our templates right from the settings page.

Exporting Data: Your cinematic journey belongs to you. You can request a full data export at any time from your settings. To enforce privacy protection, your export file is securely generated and sent directly to your registered email address.
