3. Frequently Asked Questions
Why don't I see an "Export" option in the IMDb mobile app?
IMDb currently only supports CSV data exports through their desktop website. If you are on a phone or tablet, open your browser (e.g. Chrome, Safari), visit imdb.com, log in, and switch your browser to "Desktop Site" mode, or complete the download on a desktop computer.
How does IMDb's 1–10 rating scale convert to FlixNChill's 5 stars?
FlixNChill uses a 5-star rating system with half-star steps (1.0 to 5.0 in 0.5 increments). Your IMDb integer score maps directly: a 10 becomes 5.0 stars, 9 becomes 4.5 stars, 8 becomes 4.0 stars, 7 becomes 3.5 stars, down to 1 becoming 0.5 stars.
Does this import TV shows and miniseries as well as movies?
Yes. If your IMDb Ratings or Watchlist contain TV series or miniseries, FlixNChill automatically places them into your TV library rather than grouping them as feature films.
Will importing an IMDb CSV overwrite titles I already rated on FlixNChill?
No. FlixNChill preserves any scores you have already given directly on the platform. If a movie is already present in your library, your existing rating remains untouched, and any additional watch dates or watchlist states from your file are added.
Can I import multiple custom lists from IMDb?
Yes. You can export each custom list from IMDb individually as a CSV. In the Migration Assistant, select Custom List, enter the desired collection name, and upload the file. It will be added as a private Collection in your profile.
Are written reviews and check-ins included in the IMDb CSV?
No. IMDb's standard data export file includes your rating, title release year, and the date you rated the title. IMDb does not package user-written review text or check-in notes within list export files.
What happens if a title in my IMDb list is not found?
After processing your file, FlixNChill presents a summary report. In the rare event that an obscure title or regional release requires verification, it will be listed so you can select and add the correct version in one click.
