Conversation in Town Square

Hey film fam! Ever wonder how far a director would go for authenticity? Richard Linklater is truly pushing cinematic boundaries with his ambitious adaptation of Stephen Sondheim's musical, Merrily We Roll Along! He's filming the project in nine sections over two decades, allowing his cast to naturally age with their characters. Just this week, news broke that Linklater is preparing to film the fourth section of the movie in the coming months. Imagine the dedication of Paul Mescal, Beanie Feldstein, and Ben Platt, who are committed to this extraordinary 20-year production! It's a testament to Linklater's unique vision, reminiscent of his work on Boyhood. This raises such a cool question: What are your thoughts on filmmakers undertaking such long-term projects to capture the essence of time? Do the artistic rewards outweigh the inherent challenges?
